DAVIS Posted Sunday, September 10, 2017 6:00 am Robert Norwood Davis, 81, husband of JoAnn Christian Davis, died on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at NHC Healthcare. Born on March 18, 1936, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late John Advil Davis and Mary Etta Powell Davis. He was a member of Alice Drive Bapist Church. He was charter president of the Pinewood Lion's Club. He was employed by the Sumter Police Department for 10 years and retired from the S.C. State Forestry Commission. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Survivors include his wife of 56 years; three children, Glenn Davis (Mer) of Sumter, Donna Huddle (David) of Myrtle Beach and Dee Cook (Wayne) of Sumter; five grandchildren, Cristin Russell (Tom), Josh Cannon (Melissa), Erin Cook, Jack Cook and Leigh Huddle; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Joshua, Hayley, Lane and Caroline; and a sister-in-law, Rhoda Davis of Greenville. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be former members of the Pinewood Lion's Club and Robert Gallishaw. The family received friends Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and will receive friends at other times at the home.
