Newman, died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at her home. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Milton L. Brown Sr. and the late Mae Stevens Brown. She was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors besides her husband include three sons, Brad Newman and his wife, Cindy, Tony Newman and his wife, Lauren, and Jason Newman, all of Sumter; three grandchildren, Buddy Newman, Claudia Newman and Amanda Newman; three brothers, Milton L. Brown Jr. and Mike Stevens, both of Sumter, and Cecil Stevens of Conway; four sisters, Minnie Lee Ardis, Mary Sisson, Dot Effler and Harriett Hodge, all of Sumter; her mother-in-law, Jeanette Newman of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. James Braswell officiating. Pallbearers will be Josh Thompson, Danny Lowery, Blake Hodge, Lance Lasseigne, Bobby Newman and Jason Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of C.N.A. Construction Co. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Newman, 75 Pinecrest Drive. Memorials may be made to the Concord Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 3350 E. Brewington Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
