STRANGE Harmon Cuttino Strange, 80, husband of 60 years to Betty Mitchell Strange, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Feb. 17, 1926, in Sumter, he was the son of the late Henry Nelson Strange and the late Olive Haley Strange. Mr. Strange was educated in the public schools of Sumter and served his country in World War II with the U.S. Navy, where he received numerous medals. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad after 27 years of service and was the owner of Strange Electric & Remodeling Co. Mr. Strange was a life member of St. Marks United Methodist Church, where he served on many boards. He was a Mason with the Claremont Lodge 64, an Omar Shriner and Captain of the Omar Jets. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Henry "Buddy" Strange and wife, Jacqueline, Carroll Watford and wife, Lois, all of Sumter; a daughter, Nancy S. Russell and husband, John, of Sumter; a brother, Charles Sidney Strange and wife, Sarah, of Sumter; seven grandchildren, Lynette W. Boykin, J. Ronald Watford, Audra Proveaux, Allison Strange, Brenton Strange, Harmon W. "Cory" Henderson and Christopher Duvall; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Strange was preceded in death by an infant child, Harmon Nelson Strange; and three brothers, Henry N. Strange, J. Clifford Strange and Francis O. Strange. Graveside services with Masonic rites will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. William M. Lewis and the Rev. Dr. John E. Boyd Jr. officiating. Pallbearers will be Harmon W. "Cory" Henderson, Harry "Butch" Tomlinson, Benjamin Strange, Jeff Davis, M.B. Hanna and Porter "Bobby" LeBlanc. The family will receive friends at the home, 14 Strange St. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 27 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150, or Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 952 Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605.
