HENRY B. FLOYD
Henry Benjamin Floyd, 76, beloved husband of the late Linda Lou Adams Floyd, died on Friday, June 26, 2009, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Olanta, a son of the late Barney Floyd and Etta Coker Floyd. He taught school for 17 years and later retired as the business manager for the Lee County School System. After retirement he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Green Acres Assembly of God Church where he was in charge of the Senior Citizens Group.
Surviving are: one daughter, Sheri Floyd Timmons and her husband, John, of Sumter; two brothers, Dr. Chester Floyd of Lexington and Dr. Billy K. Floyd of Cayce; Three sisters, Ivene Floyd Weaver of Sumter, Joann Floyd Floyd of Kingstree and Della Floyd Hancock of Stedman, N.C.; one Grandchild, Angela Martin Hodge and her husband Craig of Sumter; two great-grandchildren, Lindley and Kailin Hodge of Sumter; and a special friend, Margaret Carter.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barnell Floyd Richardson
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Green Acres Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Donnie Collins, the Rev. Michael Bowman, the Rev. David Richardson and the Rev. Todd Floyd officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Green Acres Assembly of God Church Senior's Group.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the family residence.
