Posted Saturday, January 11, 2020 6:00 am DALZELL - David Clinton Ross Sr., age 94, beloved husband of Linda Morris Ross, died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2020, at his residence. Born in Sumter County, David was a son of the late Robert Ross Sr. and Katie Boykin Ross. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II. David loved to work on his farm and retired from Shaw Air Force Base as a Civil Service employee. He also served as a past manager and director of Dalzell Water District. David was a longtime member of Dalzell United Methodist Church, a member of the Sumter Shrine Club and was a founding member of SAFE Federal Credit Union. He loved to go fishing and was always serving his community and helping people in any way that he could. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Surviving in addition to his wife Linda are one son, David Ross Jr. and his wife, Frieda, of Cayce; two daughters, Jane McKellar and her husband, Fred, of Dalzell and Sheila Ross of Dalzell; one brother, James W. Ross and his wife, Shirley, of Dalzell; two sisters, Annie DuBose of Sumter and Carolyn Apperson of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren, Kimberly Corley and her husband, Henry, Shannon McKellar, Clint McKellar and his wife, Mariah, and Breanna Ross; and six great-grandchildren, Logan, Nathan, Jackson, Katie, Jack and Bryce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Donald A. Ross; six brothers, Thomas Ross, Robert Ross Jr., Henry Ross, Blanding Ross, Carl H. Ross and Charles Ross; and one sister, Katherine Brown. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Dalzell United Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Ross Cemetery, Red Lane Road, Dalzell. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Bullock Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Ross Cemetery, P.O. Box 175, Dalzell, SC 29040.
