Posted Friday, October 1, 2021 6:00 am Thomas Earl "Dooley" Benenhaley Jr., 74, husband of Phyllis Graham Benenhaley, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021. Born on Feb. 13, 1947, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Thomas Earl Benenhaley Sr. and Erline B. Benenhaley. He was a retired carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 51 years; four children, Ronald Benenhaley, Glenda Blackmon (John), Jason Benenhaley (Susan) and Timothy Benenhaley; grandchildren, Joshua More (Traci), Jamie More (Peyton), Cody Benenhaley (Cecily), Taylor Benenhaley, Ryan Benenhaley and Jason Shawn Benenhaley; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Eadie Billings and Rose Mary Benenhaley; and a brother, Ronald Benenhaley. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Springbank Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Michael Bowman officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Benenhaley, Gary Barrett, Nathan Jones, Frank Strickland, Joby Griffin and Jamie Mount. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
