Floyd, 88, husband of Maude Clara Osborne Floyd, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia. Born in Turbeville, he was a son of the late Mahoney Witherspoon Floyd and the late Edith Elizabeth Morris Floyd. The Rev. Floyd was the retired founding pastor of Pocalla Holiness Church where he served for 22 years. Upon retirement he attended Bible Way Holiness Church. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the Normandy campaign. Surviving is his wife of 68 years of Sumter; one son, Glenn Floyd of Sumter; one daughter, Dianne Hudson and husband, the Rev. Marion Hudson, of Sumter; three brothers, Joe Floyd and Alford Floyd, both of Sumter, and Hinson Floyd of Georgetown; one sister, Inez Mills of St. Augustine, Fla.; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Floyd of Sumter; four grandsons, Joey, Ken and Sean Floyd and the Rev. Timothy Hudson; two granddaughters, Christy Hudson Brown and Maria Floyd Hiatt; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Bobby Floyd. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Pocalla Holiness Church with his grandson, the Rev. Timothy Hudson officiating along with the Rev. Claudie Osborne and the Rev. Robbie Hardin. Burial will be in the Pocalla Holiness Church Cemetery. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and associate ministers of Pocalla Holiness Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, 125 Burkett Drive.
