| HIST | JOSEPH F. KOLAR JR. Posted Tuesday, April 10, 2018 6:00 am Joseph F. Kolar Jr., 79, husband of Frances "Fran" Pierson Kolar, passed on Saturday, April 7, 2018. Born on June 7, 1938, in Chicago, he was a son of the late Joseph F. Kolar Sr. and Marie Soltis Kolar. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joan Gill. Mr. Kolar was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a licensed contractor and owner of Suburban Home Repairs and Remodeling. He served on the board of directors of Morey Electronics for many years. Survivors include his wife of 59 years; three children, Ken Kolar (Michelle) of Lilburn, Georgia, Susan O'Leary (the late Gregory) and Dione McConnell (Chris), both of Downers Grove, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jestin Kolar, Zak Kolar, Greg Kolar, Joey Kolar, Kyle O'Leary, Kayla O'Leary and Keaton O'Leary; a special cousin, Charlene Ryan; and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. William Kellogg and his staff, Dr. Mitch Grunsky, and the staff of Covenant Place for the excellent care they provided. Memorials may be made to Alice Drive Baptist Church, 1305 Loring Mill Road, Sumter, SC 29150 or United Ministries of Sumter, 8002, 36 S. Artillery Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
