Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mr. Ardis died August 11, 2010, in Auburntown, Tenn. Born October 17, 1919, in Paxville, S.C., he was a son of the late John and Ellen Barwick Ardis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Carrie Lou Britton Ardis; daughter, Susan Ardis Berry (Pat Corley) of Lexington; son, John Phillip Ardis (Cathy) of Auburntown; grandchildren, Rand Berry (Cindy), Cheryl Huffstetler (Scott), John Berry; great-grandchildren, Chad Phillip Ardis, Kayla Huffstetler; great-great-granddaughter, Abigail Ardis; brother, Cleveland Ardis. He was predeceased by brothers, James, Raymond, Thomas and Hydrick Ardis; sisters, Jean Smith, Virginia Strinese; grandson, Chad Murray Ardis.
