ARDIS Sr. HOLLY HILL -- Hydrick Wayne Ardis Sr., 82, husband of Ceclia Crummie Ardis, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home. Born in Paxville, he was a son of the late John Russell Ardis and Ellen Virginia Barwick Ardis. Mr. Ardis was a member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was the retired owner and operator of Ardis Service Center in Sumter. Surviving are his wife and adopted daughter, Selena Torress, both of Holly Hill; one son, Hydrick Wayne Ardis Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Sumter; three daughters, Brenda K. Green and husband, Wayne, of Lynchburg, Karen Rich and husband, Lee, of Sumter, Pattie Thornhill and husband, Donnie, of Sumter; two brothers, Julian Ardis of Florida and Cleve Ardis of Sumter; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Wayne Ardis, Jon Wayne Green Jr., Michael Ryan Rich, Christopher J. Hawkins, John L. Seabrook IV, Phillip Thomas Hawkins Jr., Dallas D. Welch and Shane Green. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Northside Memorial Baptist Church, 1004 N.
