Cecil Lee Springs Sr., 55, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late Clen Springs and the late Bertha Broach Springs. Mr. Springs attended Sumter Freewill Baptist of the Pentecostal Faith Church and was employed by Express Teller Services. Surviving are two sons, Cecil Lee Springs Jr. and David Henry Springs, both of Sumter; two brothers, Alton Springs of Sumter and Hoyt Springs of Lake City; two sisters, Ruby Nichols of Sumter and Shirley Feagin of Mt. Pleasant; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Springs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of the Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Melton, the Rev. Clint Tawes and the Rev. B.R. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Ward Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Johnny Ward, Steve Ward, Mike Ward, Ray Mooneyham, Jerry Geddings and Billy Nichols. Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Springs, Donnie Springs, Todd Weatherford, Craig Weatherford and Marty Geddings. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of Patti and Glenn McCloud, 3330 Butterworth Circle.
