Richard Lesesne Frierson, M.D., a graduate of Sumter High School, earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music from the University of South Carolina, and matriculated with a Medical Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, was recently promoted to Vice Chair for Education for the Department of Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Science at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Dr. Frierson, an exemplary educator and clinician, has made tremendous contributions to the field of academic psychiatry nationally and locally. Dr. Frierson also holds an Adjunct Associate Professor appointment with the Department of Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina.
