| HIST | at death- he had 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren Elvin M. Hopkins BISHOPVILLE -- Elvin McClure Hopkins, 90, husband of Ruth Outlaw Hopkins, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at his home. Born in Bishopville, he was a son of the late Eugene and Martha Wingate Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Korn Industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 71 years; two sons, William E. "Bill" Hopkins (Annette) of Bishopville and Michael D. Hopkins (Miranda) of Fort Mill; two daughters, Alene H. Sims (Marion) of Timmonsville and Alice H. Moseley of Camden; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Brazell and Voncile Collins. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. B.R. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Tri-County Hospice Care, 2560 Tahoe Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is in charge of the arrangements.
