Posted Thursday, February 11, 2021 6:00 am MANNING - Paul Eugene Floyd Jr., 86, widower of Julie Ann Jackson Floyd, died on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital. Born on May 21, 1934, in Manning, he was a son of the late Paul Eugene Floyd Sr. and Letitia Margaret Wilson Floyd. He was a 1957 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. For 32 years, he was co-owner and operator of Palmetto Provision Co. He was the former owner of D&H BBQ and a former co-owner of Black River Ace Hardware. He was a devoted member for 61 years of the Manning Rotary Club, having served as president twice. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and was Rotarian of the Year in 2017-2018. He was currently serving on the board of directors of the Clarendon County Disabilities and Special Needs, a cause dear to his heart. He was a long-time valued member of the Bank of Clarendon Board of Directors and later served in the special capacity of director emeritus. He was a member and past president of the Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce. He was named Business Person of the Year in 1991. He was an avid fan of the South Carolina Gamecocks and served as president of the Clarendon County Gamecock Club 1997-1998. He was the Gamecock Fan of the Year in 2000. He was a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina and was also a member of St. Peter's Masonic Lodge 54. He was a longtime, faithful member of Manning United Methodist Church, having served on the administrative board and as chairman of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee. He was a member of the Margaret Jones Gamble Sunday School Class, a former Sunday school teacher and was a member of the choir for more than 60 years. He was a loving and devoted father of three children, Janie F. Ard (Aubrey) and Gene Floyd (Ericha), both of Manning, and Carol F. Lepp of West Columbia; proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Albert Ard (Shelley), Kevin Ard (Crystal), Letitia M. Ard, Madison Lepp, Wilson Lepp, Riley Floyd and Copeland Floyd; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Julie, Josiah and Matthias; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bettie Sue Floyd Kennedy; and two brothers, Laurens Wilson Floyd Sr. and Henry Lesesne Floyd. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at the Manning Cemetery with the Rev. Kem Thomas and the Rev. Kevin Ard officiating. Pallbearers will be Gene Floyd, Copeland Floyd, Ted Lepp, Wilson Lepp, Albert Ard and Paul Kennedy. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.
