But most of all he was a godly man - a true servant of God. Anyone who sat under the sound of his teaching went away with a better knowledge of the Holy Scriptures. He was a man of great stature in his church and community. When you thought of High Hill (Free Will Baptist Church - Scranton, South Carolina) church, you thought of him. The pew he sat on, the rostrum he stood behind to teach, and the truths he taught will always be a vivid picture in the minds of the people here as a memorial to him. Our great loss is truly heaven’s gain, for now he is attending the greatest Sunday School of them all. How fitting that God called him home on the Sabbath Day! The church he loved - loved him. Gone is a teacher, deacon, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather - but not forgotten.  [3]
