After he married Nancy Smart he moved to Georgia. However, when he died February 26, 1818, he was buried in the Wright-Dinkins-Atkinson Cemetery beside his first wife who died in 1791. [3] |

William, along with other patriots of the District Eastward of Wateree, signed the South Carolina Revolutionary Association for Public Defense in 1776. On August 11, 1777, he enlisted as a private in the 5th South Carolina Continental Regt. and was a member of this unit when it disbanded in 1779. In addition to his service as a soldier, he furnished supplies from his plantation for the State Militia and the Continental Troops. [3] |
