| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina of Union, South Carolina JOYCE BAILEY SIMPSONVILLE - Katherine Joyce Foxworth Bailey, 76, of 107 Ashley Oaks Drive, sweet mother and grandmama, went home to heaven to be with her Creator and the love of her life on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Henry Hume and Katherine Mellett Foxworth. She was the widow of the Rev. Joseph "Joe" David Bailey, with whom she partnered during his ministry in the South Carolina United Methodist Conference. She was a loving and caring housewife, mother and friend, and a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Bryson Bailey of the home; three daughters, Joan Wood and husband, Bruce, of Gaffney, Ellen Arnold and husband, Doyle, of Fountain Inn and Jill Strickland and husband, John, of Hanceville, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Melany and Erin Bailey, Jeremiah and wife, Jessica Wood, Bailey and Joseph Wood, and Connor and Audrey Strickland; two great-grandchildren, John and Eli Wood; two sisters, Sarah Tindal of Sumter and Georgianna Connell of Campobello; and a sister-in-law, Alice Foxworth of Sumter. She was predeceased by a brother, Francis Foxworth. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Forest Hills Funeral Home in Woodruff. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Funeral Home in the Stribling Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Nelson Stokes officiating. A 3 p.m. graveside service and interment will follow in Sumter Cemetery, Sumter, officiated by the Rev. Clarence D. Williams.
