AVINS Date Published: December 2 & 3, 2008 Posted Tuesday, December 2, 2008 7:00 pm Shirley Ann Geddings Avins, 66, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital. Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Annie Hinson Geddings. Survivors include two sons, Gregory Avins (Janet) of Bennettsville and Jeffrey Avins (Delanie) of Alcolu; four grandchildren, Rita, Crystal, Chris and Holly; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Wayne Geddings (Karen) and Michael Geddings (Diane), both of Sumter; five sisters, Dorothy Geddings, Polly Hill (Cleveland) and Lillie McCoy (Pete), all of Sumter, Susie Brown (Bill) of Myrtle Beach, and Betty Lynne Ardis of Sumter; and a close friend, Joan Ardis of Sumter. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son in Alcolu.
