Berry Sr., 75, husband of Florence Porter Berry, died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Oklahoma, he was a son of the late U.V. Berry and the late Emma Seigler Berry. Mr. Berry was a faithful member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was retired from Carolina Furniture Works and was the co-owner, along with his wife, of Keepsakes & Collectibles. His hobby was chainsaw and lawn mower repair and he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Survivors besides his wife of Sumter include three sons, Allen L. Berry Jr. of Santee, Ronald A. Berry and his wife, Phyllis, of Lugoff, and Philip M. Berry of Sumter; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Glenn Berry and Marion Berry, both of California; and three sisters, Flora Mae Bounds of Missouri, and Wilma Pittman and Anita Smith, both of California. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in New Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Rivers officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Berry, Lance Cpl. Danna Berry, Eddie Porter, Roy Alsbrooks, Joe Ridley and Bryan Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Cuttino Bible Class of New Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the New Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 2500 West Oakland Ave., Sumter, SC 29154.
