  HIST	of Sumter, South Carolina Mary T. Jones Mary Turner Jones, 89, widow of John Gilbert Jones, died Saturday, May 26, 2012, at her home in Sumter. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Jervey and Estelle Avin Turner. She was a longtime member of Northside Memorial Baptist Church and a founding member of Southside Baptist Church. She retired from B.L. Montague Co. Survivors include a son, Michael A. Jones of Grand Cayman; grandchildren, Amanda O'Neal of Sumter, Lisa Marshel and her husband, Chris, of Las Vegas, Nev., Eric Mitchum of Sumter, Wesley Pellerin and his wife, Sarah, of Columbia and Christian Jones of Sumter; two great-grandsons, Zachary Marshel of Las Vegas and Michael O'Neal of Sumter; and a great-granddaughter, Sybil Pellerin of Cayce; a sister, Jeanette Avin Rosenbaum of Pawley's Island; special nieces, Donna Knight of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Stacey Rogers of Sumter; and a special nephew, Wendell Turner of Sumter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jones Mitchum Ashmore; and three brothers, Roy Turner, Johnny Turner and Horace "Son" Turner. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Carroll Barnette, Melvin Holloman, Eddie Skey, Larry Holloman, Tommy Rogers and John Privette. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to the Northside Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 1004 N. Main St., Sumter, SC 29150 or to the Nursing Scholarship Fund at Central Carolina Technical College in memory of Betty Mitchum.
