She had a great-grandson, William Owens, who preced her in death. jkh LINDA EDENS MONTAGUE Posted Thursday, May 22, 2025 4:03 pm Linda Edens Montague, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at National Healthcare in Sumter. Born on March 17, 1943, Linda lived a full and generous life devoted to her family and community. She is survived by her husband, Bert Larry Montague II of Sumter; her daughter, Nancy Montague Cromer (Perron) of Sumter; and four cherished granddaughters, NancyHayes Cromer Owens (Ansel) of Sumter, Virginia Cromer Gibbons (Kerry) of Manning, Perrin Marie Cromer (Noah Wells) and Rebecca Cromer Noonan (Will). Linda was also a proud great-grandmother to Pruitt Owens, Parker Hayes Owens, Cromer Owens and Wilder Gibbons; and Mrs. Debra Harrington, her friend and caregiver for over 23 years. She is also survived by her three brothers: C.B. Edens, James Henry Edens and John Edens, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Bethea Edens Sr.; her dear uncle, Seldon McElveen; and her great-grandson, William Owens. The family extends their gratitude to the compassionate staff and Hospice of Iris Hall at NHC for the care and kindness they showed her. A private Celebration of Life was held on May 21, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Linda’s memory with a donation to Saving Sumter Strays, Laurence Manning Academy, or First Presbyterian Church of Sumter.
