Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Sumter Cemetery, officiated by the Rev. Knox Lambert. Pallbearers will be Harvey M. Sandy, Dale Mercy, Harry McKeown, James D. Harrelson, James H. Carson and F. M. Moise Jr. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, June 17, 1914, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lewis Kurzenberger of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was a graduate of Miami University of Ohio and was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He starred in football, baseball and track. He was one of the first instructors of cadets at Shaw Air Force Base in 1942, and served as commander of a B-28 bomber in World War II. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, the YMCA, Rotary Club, the American Legion, VFW and Elks Club. He was manager of Contractors Equipment Division and member of the board of directors of B. L. Montague Co., and member of the board of directors of the Sumter Casket Co. Surviving, along with his parents, are: his widow, Mrs. Marie Dupre Montague Kurzenberger; one son, George Nelson Kurzenberger Jr.; one daughter, Miss Ann Gray Kurzenberger of Sumter; two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Stafford and Mrs. F. W. Stafford, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. [1] | |
