JAMES H. DAVIS
GARDEN CITY – James Hugh Davis, 84, husband of June C. Davis, formerly of Summerton, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Prince George Nursing Home in Georgetown.
Born Sept. 17, 1925, in Pinewood, he was the son of the late Jefferson Maynard and Hester Barwick Davis, and was first married to the late Willa Jean Godwin Davis. He was a gas/convenience store owner, a member of the Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet and a United States Coast Guard veteran.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, William Glenn Davis of Pelion; a daughter, Kathy Davis James of Sumter; and four grandchildren, Willa Kathryn Means, Harley Elizabeth Means, Amanda Rose Davis and James Clifton Davis.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Summerton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Garland Hart and the Rev. Randy Bowers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of the service in the church fellowship hall.
