REBECCA C. HODGE Rebecca Cockerill Hodge, 94, widow of Johnnie Lee Hodge, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Enos DuPree Cockerill and Lillie Josephine Hodge Cockerill. Mrs. Hodge was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Saints Over Sixty Sunday School class. She was employed by Santee Print Works for many years and retired from Campbell Soup Co. She was also a sitter and caregiver for many. Survivors include a son, Enos Lee Hodge (Harriet) of Sumter; a daughter, Sylvia Mitchum (Joe) of Sumter; 15 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends at Palmetto Towers. She was preceded in death by two sons, Vernon Ray "Snookie" Hodge and Johnny Allen Hodge; a daughter, Lillie Lucille Hodge; six brothers, Noah Irby Cockerill, James Clifton Cockerill, Ceasar DuPree Cockerill, Alford J. Cockerill, Enos DuPree Cockerill and Joe Ed Cockerill; and four sisters, Harriet Frances "Fannie" Hodge, Weta Ann Osteen, Lillie Hodge Scott and Mabel Ellen Drawdy. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Greene officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Providence Baptist Church and members of the Saints Over Sixty Sunday School class. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, 10 Reed St. Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church Building Fund, 2445 Old Manning Road, Sumter, SC 29150.
