  HIST	BRENDA KAY THIGPEN (SUTTON) Posted Thursday, May 12, 2022 6:00 am Brenda Kay Thigpen, 67, wife of Rowland James Thigpen Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022. Brenda was born on June 26, 1954, in Rock Hill, a daughter of the late James Oliver Sutton and Dorothy Lee Bish, and her stepfather, the late Henery Bish. She was a member of Crosswell Baptist Church. Brenda loved gospel music and sang with her family for more than 55 years. She was a member of the Heavenly Tones of Sumter. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy; two sons, Jay Thigpen (Delores) and Lee Thigpen (Loretta); two sisters, Julie Mahoney (Preston) and Peggy Kinlaw (Jimmy); four grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and two very special daughters, Josie Madlock (Chris) and Joanne Packer. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Davis Sutton. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Crosswell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Owens, the Rev. Rodney Howard and the Rev. Nathan Timmons officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.  [6]
