Enos Lee Hodge, 91, widow of Harriet Pack Hodge, died Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Born in 1932 in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Johnny Lee Hodge and Rebecca Cockerill Hodge. Mr. Hodge was a life-long member of Providence Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his 30 years of military service in the United States Air Force and as a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also a dedicated member of Providence Baptist Church, serving in capacities of chairman of the deacons, Sunday school director and teacher and chairman of the Cemetery Committee. He was locally known as growing some of the largest and juiciest tomatoes in Sumter County. Survivors include sister Sylvia Joe Mitchum; daughter, Janet Eady of Sumter; sons, Ronald L. Hodge and wife, Nellie, of Columbia, and Timothy G. Hodge of Charlotte; grandchildren, Brett and Travis Schofer, Jackson, Abigail and Caroline Hodge; and great-grandchildren Scarlett, Virginia, Jaxton, Keegan and Kennedy. Mr. Hodge was preceded in death by two brothers, Verner Ray “Snooky” Hodge Sr. and Johnny Allen Hodge Jr. Pallbearers will be Jackson Hodge, Bubba Hodge, Russ Elmore, Steven Elmore, Kevin Tutton, Brett Schofer and Travis Schofer. Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of Providence Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, June 29, 2024, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, 515 Miller Road, Sumter, and at other times at the home. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 4 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 2445 Old Manning Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Nathan Falco and the Rev. Wayne McElveen officiating. A graveside burial with full military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to At Your Service Home Health and Diary Robinson for their years of support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the General Fund of Providence Baptist Church in Mr. Hodge’s memory.
