Thornhill HEMINGWAY -- Larry Odell Thornhill, 67, beloved husband of Shirley Ann Wilkes Thornhill, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Thornhill was born May 14, 1944, in Florence, a son of Hampton Wesley and Freda Ethellee "Mammy" McClam Thornhill. He attended Olanta High School. He was an electrician and a previous warehouse manager for Lake City Lumber. Mr. Thornhill was a member of Faith Holiness Church in Scranton. He loved fishing, car races, going to the mountains, gardening and canning. But his first love and heart's passion was his church, Good Ole Gospel singings, and gospel music. Larry and Shirley were married on July 2, 1983 and celebrated 28 years together. He leaves behind: his wife; a son, Richard "Ricky" Hampton (Debbie) Thornhill; two daughters, Renee Tonya Thornhill and Rhonda Lynn Thornhill; four grandchildren, Richie Thornhill, Jason Thornhill, Evan Thornhill and Jessica Crippen; and a very special great-nephew, Joshua Norwood. He also leaves a brother, John Wesley "Sonny" (Christine) Thornhill; three sisters, Marie (Bill) Luttrell, Shirley Ann (J.W.) Cooksey and Martha Jean Prosser; and his faithful companion "Lexis," his Lhasa Apso dog. He was predeceased by his parents. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Faith Holiness Church in Scranton. Interment will follow in Lake City Memorial Park in Lake City, directed by the Hemingway Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Bonnie Laird, AGAPE Hospice of Kingstree, the nursing staff at Tuomey Hospital and the third floor nursing staff at Columbia Heart Hospital for their unselfish love, care, and undying devotion. Memorials may be made to Faith Holiness Church or AGAPE Hospice of Kingstree. McKenzie Funeral Home of Hemingway is honored to serve the Thornhill family.
