- Graduated as Civil Engineer, Columbia, SC. Commissioned County Surveyor of Sumter County in 1847, and served in that capacity until 1854, when he moved to Gadsden County, FL. In 1862, he moved to Tallahassee to accept position of Chief Clerk in the Comptroller’s office, which position he held until he died.
Was in service of the Confederate States from 12/7/1863 to 10/31/1864. Was in the Quartermaster Dept., Lake City, FL
His Masonic career began in Lake City in 1864, when he joined the Lodge and Chapter at that place. In 1877, he affiliated with Jackson Lodge No. 1 and Florida Royal Arch Chapter No. 1 at Tallahassee, FL, and in December of that year was elected Secretary of Jackson Lodge and Secretary of Florida Royal Arch Chapter, both of which positions he held at the time of his death. In 1871 and 1872, he was Grand Secretary of the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Florida; was elected Grand King in 1884 and again in 1888 and 1892. Was elected Deputy Grand High Priest in 1893 and Grand High Priest in 1894. In 1895, he was elected Grand Chaplain of the Grand Chapter and served as such until 1902 when he was unable to attend and his place was filled by another Companion. He was Grand Representative of the Grand Chapter of Florida for the Grand Chapters of South Carolina, Minnesota, and Nova Scotia.
Mr. McIntosh was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church for twenty-three years and an Elder in the same church for sixteen years. He served as Commissioner to he General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church at the sessions held in Atlanta, GA, Asheville, NC and Jackson, MS.
In 1850, they had one 5-10 y-o male, one 15-20 y-o male, and a 76 y-o male living with them, plus one 10-15 y-o female and one 50-60 y-o female.
The 76 year old was a veteran (of the Revolutionary War).
