  Major John Mikell (Rev. war) moved to Pedee, SC in 1750's of Dutch or German descent ------------------------------------------ John Mikell was an officer in General Francis Marion’s bri gade ------------------------------------------ SOURCE INFO "PIONEERS OF WIRE GRASS GEORGIA" BY HUXFORD SOCIETY. IS VOLUME NUMBER - PAGE NUMBER. 1 Note: James Mikell, brother of Major John and Barnett Mikell died without having married. He was granted a commission as Deputy Surveyor General of South Carolina in 1766. He received a grant of land of 47 acres on the Peedee River in 1768. See copy of Plat. On May 16, 1772 John Mikell was administrator of estate of James Mikell, Barnett Mikell was a witness. The inventory included one Surveyor's chain.
