Dukes St., Summerton, South Carolina OREGON T. ARDIS Jr. SUMMERTON -- Oregon Texas "O.T." Ardis Jr., 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, in Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Born March 21, 1917, in Summerton, he was a son of the late Oregon Texas Ardis Sr. and the late Tabiatha Ann Jackson Ardis. He was a retired self-employed mechanic, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of Summerton United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. Mr. Ardis was a member of the American Legion Post No. 35 in Summerton, and was president and in charge of the annual reunion of 3482nd Ordinance. Surviving are his wife, Ida Estelle Sweatman Ardis of Summerton; two daughters, Linda Elliott and her husband, Roddy, of Manning and Arlene Robinson and her husband, Darrell, of Columbia; a daughter-in-law, Sally Brunson Ardis of Summerton; seven grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Oregon Texas Ardis III, and a grandson, William Joseph Elliott. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Summerton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Summerton Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home and at other times at the residence, 44 S. Dukes St., Summerton.
