| HIST | of Bishopville, South Carolina at death- he had 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren Stanley Stokes BISHOPVILLE — Funeral services for Stanley Stokes, 86, who passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Wayside Baptist Church. Burial will be directed by Norton Funeral Home in the Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Stokes was born in Bishopville, a son of the late Henry Young and Nicie Jane Grantham Stokes. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, an Army veteran of World War II and loved to play the guitar and harmonica with a gospel group and wrote several songs. He retired from Sonoco Products Co. with over 40 years of service and was a member of the Old Timers Club. Surviving are three sons, Phillip Stanley (Diane) Stokes, of Bishopville, David LaRue (Laura Ann) Stokes, of Bethune, Donald Wyman (Jenny Rogers) Stokes, of Bishopville; one daughter, Brenda Gayle (James Dean) Miller, of Dalzell; two sisters, Barbara Capell, of Red Hill, and Shelby Haines, of Gilbert, Ariz.; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Atkinson Stokes. Memorials may be made to the Bishopville Rescue Squad, P.O.
