MARY M. BARRETT
Mary Helen Mooneyhan Barrett, 72, wife of Don Barrett, passed away on her birthday, June 5, 2009, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Asa Beasley Mooneyhan and Virginia Tisdale Mooneyhan. Mrs. Barrett was a longtime faithful member of the Brewington Family Community Leaders in Sumter County. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. An avid quilter, she won numerous awards for her handmade creations.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years; two daughters, Sharon Barrett Moss and Kathryn Barrett Duke (Jim), both of Sumter; a grandson, Taylor Barrett Duke; brothers and sisters, Ann Richardson (Thad) of Fairfax, Va., Betty Barrett (Dave) of Endicott, N.Y., Buddy Mooneyhan (Linda) of Gastonia, N.C., and Sara Mooneyhan of Gable; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
