Mack Anderson, Jr., of Florence, died Monday, December 29, 2008, in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Anderson was born in Darlington, SC, a son of the late Harley Mack and Nellie Tobias Anderson. He graduated from Darlington County Schools and from Anderson College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a member of the Mizpah Baptist Church where he had been a former choir director there, at Westminster Presbyterian Church and at St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was owner and operator of Fine Arts Academy along with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joseph Albert Anderson, and sister, Helen Lurline Moore. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Gigi “Gerry” Rivers Anderson; daughters, Leah Anderson (Jeff) Rogers of Surfside, Leslie Anderson Daniel and Laura Anderson (Rodney) Spivey, both of Columbia; sister, Marjorie Ham of Darlington; six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009, at Mizpah Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. | |
