Born in Kingstree, she was a daughter of Marie Cook Hicks and the late Joseph Leon Cook. Mrs. Turner was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of Pinewood; her mother of Sumter; a daughter, Vickie Rivera (Fabian) of Columbia; a grandson, Mason Rivera; two stepsisters, Janice Deaton of Columbia and Gladys McLeod of Panama City, Fla.; and a stepbrother, Robert E. Hicks Jr. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Humphries and Carol Devoll. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel, 515 Miller Road, with the Rev. Dale Turner officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Eddie Mathis, Mickey Lloyd, Dondi Avins, Ronnie Turner, Keith Turner and Johnny Hudson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
