| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina DARRYL EDWARD MCCOY Posted Tuesday, September 12, 2023 6:00 am Darryl Edward "Pappy" McCoy, 80, husband of Hattie Jayroe McCoy, died on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at his home. Born on Oct. 16, 1942, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Clinton Edward McCoy and Sarah Bell Windham McCoy. Mr. McCoy worked as an auto body repairman and mechanic. He loved fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves. Survivors in addition to his wife of 60 years include three children, Angela Hodge (Danny), Edward Allen McCoy (Kim) and Chris McCoy (Barbara), all of Sumter; nine grandchildren, Amber Davis, Kelsey Hodge (Louie), C.J. McCoy, Haley Tolson (Jay), Will McCoy (Haley), Ashley Stokes, Hanna Geddings, Kinsley Geddings and J.D. Geddings; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Larry McCoy, Jerry McCoy, Ollie McCoy (Tammy) and Tony McCoy (Lynn), all of Sumter; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Faye McCoy. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Kevin Cribb. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home.
