CARRIE L. BELL Posted Tuesday, December 20, 2005 7:00 pm LANCASTER -- Carrie Ligon Bell, age 79, of 409 W. Springs St., died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, in Springs Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 4, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John Russell and Elizabeth Gordon Ligon and was the widow of C. Boykin Bell. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women Circle No. 5. She was retired from the Lancaster Telephone Co. and was the operator who took the last call through the Lancaster telephone exchange prior to moving all of the operators to Rock Hill. Mrs. Bell is survived by two sons, B. Kendall "Ken" Bell of Sumter and Carroll N. Bell of Lancaster; a daughter, Karen C. Bell of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Tricia Flynn, Crystal Bell, Chuck Bell, Jason Flynn, Chad Bell and Michael Bell; one great-grandson, Josh Flynn; and a brother, Carroll L. Ligon. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by a brother, John G. Ligon. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from First United Methodist Church by the Rev. Dan Batson. Interment will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.  [2, 3]
