Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Howard Clifton Sumner and Lena Virginia “Jenny” Lewis Sumner. He was an avid fisherman, loved playing the guitar and working with his hands. He was very outgoing and enjoyed laughter with family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Cathy Sumner; two daughters, Ashleigh Church (Matt) and Anna Mink; a son, Johnathan Zolninger (Kristina); a stepson, Troy Anderson (Keisha); 10 grandchildren; a brother, Howard Clifton Sumner Jr. (Danita); and a sister, Cheryl Huggins (Marc).
