ERNEST CAUGHMAN Leslie Day Gulledge and Ernest Bryan Caughman were united in marriage at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at Sans Souci Plantation, Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Edmund Gulledge of Wedgefield, and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lucius Marion Gulledge of North Myrtle Beach, and Mr. and Mrs. Van Lingle Hobbs of Sumter. She graduated from Sumter High School, Clemson University with a bachelor of arts in education, and The Citadel with a master of education, counseling. She is employed by Sumter School District 17 as a counselor at Sumter High School. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Burrell Caughman of Elliott, and the grandson of Mrs. Gloria Rich Hickman of Manning, the late Bobby Vernon Hickman, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown Caughman of Elliott. He graduated from Wilson Hall and Clemson University with a bachelor of science in agricultural economics. He is employed by Lowder Farms of Sumter. The Rev. Dr. William Clay Smith officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by the Taylor Kinosian String Quartet; and McLean Marie Achziger and Caroline Starr McCluskey, vocalists. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory strapless, all-over beaded lace gown with a scalloped sweetheart neckline and mermaid bodice with a chapel train. She wore her mother's cathedral-length veil adorned with appliqués of lace medallions. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of calla lilies, roses, lavender and lisianthus. Meg Jerolmon Gulledge served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Christine Marie Bailey, Alison Geer Gulledge, Kimberly Michelle Hoover, Hannah Jo Hughes, Emily Wingate Norris, Hanna Sprott Rivers and Catherine Ann Williams. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Richard Whitney Gulledge, Brian Stewart Hill, William Richard McLeod III, John Townsend Rivers IV, Thomas Lee Rhodes III, Charles Timothy Rowland Jr. and Richard Michaux White III. Christopher Gage Langston served as ring bearer. Also participating were Jill Murphy Braddy and Kelly Elizabeth Gulledge. The bride's parents held the reception at Sans Souci Plantation.
