Born on July 27, 1921, in New York, New York, she was a daughter of the late Sidney Elliott Wolff and Helen Bernhard Wolff. She was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and retired from Sumter School District 17 after 11 years of service. She served in the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II. Mrs. Rauch was an avid bridge player and faithful supporter of the University of South Carolina football program. She was twice married, first to the late George P. Dew Sr. and then to the late Richard W. Rauch. Survivors include three children, Linda Dew Funderburk (Larry) of Cookeville, Tennessee, George P. "Gee" Dew Jr. of Sumter and Donna Dew Stump (Eric) of Orange Beach, Alabama; six grandchildren, Shannon D. Robertson (Anthony), Christian D. Thompson (David), Austin J. Connor, Tallon B. Connor, William L. Funderburk Jr. (Angela) and Timothy A. Funderburk (Sandra); nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Foster of Boulder, Colorado; and a brother, Austin Wolff of Seattle, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Webb Belangia officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Jenny James, the staff of Covenant Place, and Hospice Care of South Carolina for all of their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 211 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
