| HIST | MICHAEL McDONALD WEDGEFIELD -- Michael McDonald, 45, husband of Cathy Singleton McDonald, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at his home, 766 Point Drive, Wedgefield. Born Dec. 3, 1964, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Ernest and Eula Gaither McDonald. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home. Funeral plans are incomplete and will be announced later by Community Funeral Home of Sumter. MICHAEL M. McDONALD Sr. Michael Meichelle McDonald Sr., departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1964, in Sumter, to the late Ernest and Eula Mae Gaither McDonald. He was a member of Pine Hill African Methodist Episcopal Church in Sumter. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. He was employed as a car salesman with S&W Car Sales in Sumter for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Calash Fishing Club and Buckeye Hunting Club of Pinewood. Michael leaves behind so many that cherished him and are grateful to have shared his life: a loving and devoted wife, Cathy Singleton-McDonald of the home; a son, Michael McDonald Jr. of Sumter; three stepchildren, Cedric (Kelsha) McKnight of Myrtle, Tray McKnight and Larrie McKnight, both of Sumter; four brothers, Jeffrey Boyd (Paulette) Gaither of Charlotte, N.C., Ernie Lee (Minnie) McDonald, Eric McDonald of Sumter and Dennis McDonald of Daxhaw (Waxhaw), N.C.; a sister, Margaret (Roden) Thompson of Sumter; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Freddie Sr. and Ruthie Canty; a grandchild, Jamaria Wells; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Pinehill AME Church, 1505 S. U.S. 521, Sumter, with the Rev. Clarence Hunter, pastor, and the Rev. Barry Gadsden. Burial will follow in Beulah UME Church Memorial Park, Sumter. The family is receiving visitors at the home, 766 Point Drive, Sumter, where the procession will leave from at 2:15 p.m. today.
