Barrett began her career as a classroom teacher at Manchester Elementary for several years and later transitioned to leadership roles as an instructional coach and reading coach at the school, according to district Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement Shelly Galloway. In 2015, Barrett moved into school administration as an assistant principal at Furman Middle. She served there for eight years before assuming the same position at Shaw Heights in 2023. Elementary education is a love of hers, and she brings a passion for student achievement, a commitment to collaboration and a belief in the power of a strong school community into the new role, Barrett said.  [3, 5]
