| HIST | GLENN W. SHORTER SUMMERTON - Glenn Wayne "Dick" Shorter, 68, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Born January 22, 1942, in Davis Station, he was the son of the late John E. Sr. and Martha Lowder Shorter. He was a retired sign painter, a U.S. Army veteran and an associate of Shorter Auto Sales in Sumter, until his retirement. Surviving are a brother, J.E. Shorter Jr. of Sumter; a sister, Evangeline S. Oldham of St. Augustine, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church cemetery in Davis Station with the Rev. Morris Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning. Special thanks to the nursing staff on 3 North and the ICU nurses at Clarendon Memorial Hospital for the attention given to the family.
