| HIST | EDWARD W. MATHIS Jr. MANNING - Edward Woodley "Woody" Mathis Jr., 59, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning. Born Oct. 27, 1950, in Sumter, he was a son of Margaret Gibbons Mathis and the late Edward Woodley Mathis Sr. He attended Manning First Baptist Church in his early childhood and was a resident of Vanguard in Manning. Surviving in addition to his mother of Manning are two sisters, Marie Tisdale and her husband, G.W., of Manning and Gloria M. Beatson and her husband, Ralph, of Columbia; and a brother, Wayne Mathis and his wife, Stacy, of Manning. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Clarendon Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tom Vassar officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 49 W.
