Crowson, of 1112 Green Acres, husband of Margaret McGirt Crowson, died at his residence Sunday, December 8, 1974. He was a son of the late Rev. W. J. and Martha A. Smith Crowson. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, trustee, and elder. He was executive vice-president of the National Bank of Sumter for several years, served as regional manager of the Federal Land Bank and moved to Anderson in 1947, where he and Mrs. Crowson established Forest Lawn Memorial Park. He was a member and past secretary of Anderson Rotary Club and past president of the S.C. Cemetery Association. Surviving also are a son, William J. Crowson Jr of Atlanta, Ga.; nine grand-children: six great-grandchildren. A son, Charles Mason Crowson, portrait painter, died in 1973. Graveside services will be conducted at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. by the Rev. John B. Pridgen Jr. Deacons and Elders of the First Presbyterian Church will be pallbearers and honorary escort. The body is at McDougald's Funeral Home and the family is at the residence. The family of William J. Crowson respectfully requests that flowers be omitted.
