Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of Julian B. Allen and the late Evelyn Coward Allen. Surviving are her father and stepmother, Elizabeth B. Allen, M.D. of Sumter; three sisters, Katie A. Hutchens and husband, Thomas P. Hutchens, of Bismarck, N.D., Beth A. Reames and husband, Davis Reames, of Sumter and Janie A. Kirkland and husband, Stephen Kirkland, of Chapin; and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Gorry officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to Sumter County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, 750 Electric Drive, Sumter, SC 29153 or to a charity of one's choice.
