| HIST | of Columbia, South Carolina Stephen Barden Stephen Franklin Barden COLUMBIA - Stephen "Steve" Franklin Barden, 62, entered into his heavenly reward on November 27, 2017. Steve was born in Spartanburg, SC on May 16, 1955 to Claude and Rachel Barden. A graduate of Lexington High School and the University of South Carolina, Steve was an avid Gamecock sports fan. He was truly a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC. Every position he held prior prepared him for his time as Church Administrator of Trenholm Road United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church, both of Columbia, SC. He was held in high regard by everyone he encountered during his time at those two posts. Surviving are his cherished wife of 37 years, Cynthia "Cindy" Barden, his son Daniel, daughter-in-law SuSu and his pride and joy, granddaughter SuSu. Also surviving him are his sisters, Judy Shelley (Rick) of Conway, SC, Jean Morgan (Joel) of Lexington, SC, his stepmother Suzanne Barden of Lexington, SC, along with many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. A celebration of Steve's life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 2nd in the Boyce Chapel of First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC, with visitation to follow.
