"This is what I have on Daniel McElveen, from the book entitled "Passports Issued by the Governors of Georgia, 1785-1809". An entry in this book is "Page 395--25th March 1809, ORDERED: That a passport through the Creek (Indian) Nation be prepared as after mentioned -- to wit -- One for Daniel McElvin, one for John Harvey and one for James and John McElvin". After these men arrived here in S. E. La. and S. W. MS., all but John disappeared, I assume they returned to Ga., there are NO accounts of them living here. I know John returned to Ga. the following year, possibly to take them back but he returned in 1811 with a brother Moses and a sister Margaret, to live, marry and raise his family in S. E., La."
