Posted Tuesday, September 22, 2020 6:00 am James Woodrow "Jimmy" Carson Jr., 80, died on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020, at Springdale Health Care Center in Camden. Born on Nov. 23, 1939, in Sumter, he was a son of the late James W. Sr. and Mary Camilla Avin Carson. Jimmy graduated from Sumter High School and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He taught band in the Moncks Corner and Charleston areas. Surviving are numerous cousins. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery with the Rev. Stuart Mizelle officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.sumterfunerals.com.
