VASSY Posted Friday, July 28, 2017 6:00 am MURRELLS INLET - Rosemary Vincent Vassy, 93, of the Blue Heron in Murrells Inlet passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Lynchburg. The family will speak to those attending following the service. Rosemary was a native of Lynchburg and the daughter of the late Emma B. Frierson and C. Aubrey Vincent. She graduated from Lynchburg High School and attended Queens College in Charlotte where she was a member of the Valkyrie Honor Society and the Queens Choral Society. While at Queens, she was initiated into the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. After transferring to the University of South Carolina, Rosemary received a BA degree in Music. Following graduation, she taught piano and organ at Ashwood and Lamar Public Schools and in her home. Rosemary was a member of Lynchburg Presbyterian Church for 60 years, serving as a Sunday School teacher and as the organist for 25 years. After the closure of the Lynchburg Presbyterian Church, she attended Timmonsville United Methodist Church and Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. An active member of the Lee County Republican Party, Rosemary served as an executive committeewoman from Lee County to the South Carolina Republican Party from 1995-98. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Timmonsville Book and Garden Club. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, Robert G. Vassy; and her brothers, C. Aubrey Vincent and Howard F. Vincent. She is survived by her son, Robert G. Vassy Jr. and his wife, Patti, of Florence; her daughter,Vicki V. Holler and her husband, John, of Columbia; her grandchildren, Anna and Gil Vassy, Ryan Radaker (Kyle) and John Holler III; her great-granddaughters, Adlai, Langston and Louisa Moore; and her sister-in-law, Jenell (Jan) Vassy Hottinga. She also leaves behind her niece, Rinne (Bob) Sade and nephews, Clay, (Christy) Chic (Judy) and Bob (Susan) Vincent and Charlie Vassy. In addition to family members, she also leaves behind special friends Craig Hair and Jessica Flynn of Murrells Inlet.
