| HIST | HELENE MAYS Posted Tuesday, October 22, 2019 6:00 am Helene Lydia Dancy Mays, 85, wife of Lhoman C. "Junior" Mays Jr., died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at her home. Born March 8, 1934, in Nancy, France, she was a daughter of the late Andr Conrard and Odette Conrard. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. She was a retired bookkeeper from Lakewood Links Golf Course. Survivors include her husband of 26 years; one son, James "Jimmy" Dancy of Sumter; four stepchildren, Thomas Mays (Missie), Tripp Mays (Jennifer), Sandy Mays (Mark) and Shelly Hopkins (Junior); and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Dancy; a grandson, James Dancy Jr.; a granddaughter, Christina Dancy; and a sister, Yvette Dell'Olio. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. The family would like to express their appreciation to her special caregiver, Glenda Blackmon, and to Prisma Health Tuomey Home Health and Hospice for all of their loving care and compassion. Memorials may be made to Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene, 300 N. Wise Drive, Sumter, SC 29150. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
